Ten MusicGirls and their families camped out at the Will McLean Music Festival near Brooksville recently. The girls participated in the festival's Youth Program where they performed at the Shooting Star Stage. They formed small combos with other Youth Program participants. Other activities included songwriting, stage presence, and open mic performances.
The festival is named after the seminal Florida songwriter, Will McLean and is affectionately known as "WillFest". The Will McLean Foundation is encouraging youth participation in folk music and was excited to have so many Sandy's MusicGirls attend. The Foundation generously treated the youth Program participants to free admission, a taco party on Saturday and Pizza on Sunday after the "Battle of the Bands" which the MusicGirls enjoyed participating in. On Sunday morning, a scrumptious pancake and hot chocolate breakfast was served up by MusicGirls founder Steve Morrison. We plan to make "MusicGirls at WillFest" an annual event!
